May the 4th Be With You!
Happy Official Star Wars Day!
As some of you know (and most of you probably don’t!). May the 4th is official Star Wars day for obvious reasons. LOL So in honour of today, I post a link to our 2008 Star Wars fan film entitled: Sith Academy, Class of ’87. This movie was produced for the 2008 Atomfilm Star Wars challenge, sadly it was never accepted (Don’t ask me why :S).
I was shot in our studio at NX Martial Arts entirely on Green Screen. Our martial arts cast performed an amazing lightsaber choreography! It was a blast to shoot. Editing on the other hand was quite a nightmare! Frame by frame rotoscoping lightsabers was long and boring and the 3D sets took forever to render.. but we managed and met the deadline.

Even though we did not make the Atomfilm Challenge, the film was not dead. In Ottawa, it played at the Mayfair Theatre on July 16th 2009. It was a huge local hit!

Over 100,000 views!
Our short film Pirates vs Ninjas which was released to YouTube last July just recently passed 100,000 views! Pretty amazing to watch the momentum pick up as a video exponentially goes viral on YouTube. I love reading the comments people leave daily. The feedback has been amazing and the film has created a much heated debate in the comment feed about who would actually win in the a real life confrontation between a pirate and a ninja! Needless to say, some of the comments are pretty hilarious!
If you haven’t yet seen our film, please watch
…and let us know what you think!
Enjoy!
